I was asked about the healing macros I use.
/cast [target=mouseover,help][help][target=none] Regrowth
Substitute "Regrowth" with any other spell.
Nature's Swiftness + Healing Touch
/stopcasting /cast Nature's Swiftness /stopcasting /cast [target=mouseover,help][help][target=none] Healing Touch
I've tested these, and they will heal whatever your mouse is over, even if you have a target selected. If your mouse is over nothing, it will heal your current target. If your mouse is over nothing and you have no target, it will NOT heal yourself. You will need to mouse over yourself.

I've heard mixed reviews about Healbot's usefulness. X-Perl raid frames plus the macros are working really well so far, so I dont really have any incentive to change them. Plus, I think not having a healing addon really helps me focus on everything that is going on during a raid.
It would be interesting to know what the other healers in our guild use.

Personally I use a combination of Healbot and Decursive. I've tried switching to Grid+Clique but I'm too invested into Healbot to change now and it's a pain to set up Grid lol. I've heard of the mouseover macros but for me it's just a matter of comfort zone.

I'm the same way - definitely have a comfort zone. I tried using Grid and even though I got it set up to pretty much what I wanted, in use I hated it. I love the "shiny colors" of X-Perl. I can look at the raid frames and instantly tell who is hurting and needs a heal simply by its red/yellow/green health indication.
What is this Decursive you speak of?

In addition to my Healbot raid windows, I have Decursive which basically formats each raid member into a box that lights up a different color for different ailments. For example as a priest it would light up for magic debuffs or diseases and I could either left click or right click the box to dispell either. It used to be that you could spam a "decursive button" and it would auto target and dispell based on a priority you set but Blizz said no for obvious reasons We should have a Post your UI thread somewhere hehe

I'm old school I guess, but the only addons I use for healing is decursive. I don't use healbot only because I'm used to healing by watching the raid frames and going from there. Depending on how tough Ulduar is, I may change my thinking though... We'll have to see I guess. Nice macro though, that's pretty much pro

I cant take credit for the macros, so whoever wrote them is pro A good UI is absolutely necessary for healers since we have to be aware of the entire raid at all times.

My Shaman raided with Healbot/Decursive
Priest used both too, but since that class definitely takes more skill then a Shammy, Healbot was really only used for heroics.
Shamans with Healbot/Decursive are by far the easiest healing classes to play. (Well actually Pally first, since Tiff has always healed those two)

I like healbot because the way I have it set up allows me to see where all my hots are in a form more obvious any other raid frames. I have the hot icons on extra big with large readable numbers. It takes up a decent 1/6th or so of the upper part of my screen in 25s though. I just find there are too many spells to use to use numbers well, when I can use 3 mouse buttons and alt or ctrl modifiers. It also frees my left hand for moving out of fires etc. It's playing style ultimately.
Actually for raids, the only xperl frames I use are self, target, and focus frames. Healbot serves as my raid frames for the info I need (health, hots, agro, cursed/psned) plus decursive.
